Our Events
DocFest
Ballinran is happy to announce DocFest Stratford a five day documentary film and digital media festival running April 30 – May 4, 2008. The event opens with workshops for students followed by an opening night gala and screening for the general public. It continues for the next four days with daytime workshops for students and public screenings in the evenings and on the weekend. This event is the first initiative of the recently formed Stratford Media Arts Alliance, a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to create a content hub in Stratford, Ontario. An exciting line-up of some of the finest documentary films from Canada and around the world will be selected, with preference given to films where the director, producer and/or writer will be able to attend.
Senior high school students from across south-western Ontario interested in pursuing careers in the media arts will have the opportunity to learn about or participate in:
- Workshops and panel discussions with key industry players
- Information on post-secondary programs
- A competition to find the brightest and best content creators for the next 'wave'.
Asia Factual Forum
Ballinran is pleased to be working with the Media Development Authority of Singapore and the Singapore Association of Independent Producers on the Asia Factual Forum, taking place November 25 to 27 in Singapore.
The Asia Factual Forum is a networking and development event for the television industry designed to showcase new content ideas, discover new talent and bring the brightest and best factual content creators to the attention of international buyers and commissioning editors.
Global channels are gaining a foothold in Asia and audiences are seeking out content that reflects their region and their lives. There is an abundant treasure of stories from Asia that have yet to be shared with the world. The Asia Factual Forum gives producers from Asia the opportunity to tell those stories by developing creative partnerships and co-productions with international producers and broadcasters.
