Entertainment One Beaming Shatner’s The Captains to Worldwide Audiences

TORONTO, CANADA, March 26, 2012—International distributor Entertainment One (eOne) has picked up worldwide rights to William Shatner’s feature documentary The Captains from Canadian producers Ballinran Entertainment and Le Big Boss Productions.

The film, directed by William Shatner, follows the original Captain Kirk on a voyage of self-discovery as he encounters the other actors who have played the role of Starship Captain within the illustrious Star Trek science fiction franchise.  Featured in the documentary are Sir Patrick Stewart, Chris Pine, Avery Brooks, Scott Bakula and Kate Mulgrew.  Oscar-winning actor Christopher Plummer, who once played a Klingon General, also makes a special appearance.

The Captains is produced by Le Big Boss Productions and Ballinran Entertainment in association with Movie Central, a Corus Entertainment Company; The Movie Network, an Astral Media Network; Les Chaines Tele Astral, a division of Astral Broadcasting Group, U.S. premium channel EPIX and with the participation of the Canada Media Fund, the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit and the Ontario Media Development Corporation Film and Television Tax Credit.  The film was written and directed by William Shatner and produced by Craig Thompson with William Shatner, Craig Thompson, David Zappone and Kevin Layne as Executive Producers.
